A quiet Saturday morning
I got up early this morning, before Justin and the kids, to get started on my recipe for the week! I love the weekend mornings when I have an hour or two to myself, enjoying the quiet of the house but knowing my family is all around me.
This particular April morning, I also woke up to a couple of inches of snow on the deck and more falling from the sky, with the wind whipping it all over the yard and the nature preserve behind us. In what has come to feel like an endless winter, we're predicted to have snow through Monday morning for anywhere from 5" to 14", depending on which forecast you look at.
I won't be able to get my long run in this weekend, but in the spirit of always having a Plan B, I picked up my new bike trainer set from the local bike shop yesterday, so I'll try to get that set up and go for an alternate workout, instead. I might even try to do some yoga in my new workout room! The projects around the house are really coming along, with several of them finishing up in the last month or so. There's still a lot to do - in fact, Justin will be painting this weekend - but after almost six months in the new house in Wisconsin, I think we're closing in on getting the pictures on the walls.
I guess the upside to the winter storm is that I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend here at home. No going and doing, no obligations other than to potentially shovel the driveway. I plan to try and help out by cleaning the bathroom and doing some cooking. I also have to get started on my recipe for next week - it's a two day process! I've learned a lot from the endeavor, including how life changing convenience foods like cinnamon rolls in a can really are! Ha!
Time to check the biscuits in the oven and make my coffee. Just another quiet Saturday morning in April in Wisconsin.
